Gap Year

Tzofim Olami views Gap Year programs as a core educational value. Each year, over 100 graduates of our Tzofim Tzabar chapters worldwide come to Israel for a gap year- either participating in pre-military programs (Mechinot) or a year of service (Shnat Sheirut) within the social and geographical peripheries of Israel.

This experience combines learning, volunteering, and leadership development, as participants engage with Israeli society, take on social challenges, and lead community initiatives. The gap year serves as a meaningful bridge between life in the Diaspora and long-term connection to Israel, strengthening personal commitment, responsibility, and active engagement in Jewish and Israeli life.

Lia |Gap Year Coordinator

“My gap year with Tzofim Olami was a defining experience. Through working with at-risk youth, leading a chapter in Israel, and living as part of a close-knit group, I developed skills and perspectives I will carry with me for life.”
