“Sabar Scouts” is the largest Zionist youth movement in the world. Its mission is to establish and develop educational-value frameworks in which children and youth, members of the Israeli community throughout the world, will participate in a variety of social, experiential and Zionist activities that constitute a basis for them to know and love Israel.
The first Scouting tribe for Israeli children was established in Queens, New York in 1976 and was intended to serve as a center for Scouting activities for children of Israeli diplomatic envoys.
Today, “Sabar Scouts” operate in North America, Europe and Australia, where the trainees receive tools to shape a significant Jewish-Israeli identity that combines the diverse heritage of the Jewish people in its various sectors with Israeli culture and existence in the State of Israel. And the unique tribe has grown to 47 tribes scattered throughout the world.
Scout tribes develop a meaningful community around them that strengthens the sense of belonging to Israel, while emphasizing the preservation of Hebrew and familiarity with contemporary and historical Israel. The leadership and programs are regularly accompanied by dedicated volunteer and professional members of the ranks who dedicate their time, experience, and passion to education and strengthening the connection between Diaspora Jews and Israel.

“On the mission, I realized a few important things: first of all, about the youth here – how amazing they are, how much they seek to connect with Israel, and how much they strive to be good and meaningful people. The second thing is how important our connection with them is, even when it is only expressed in a conversation about basketball, meat, or just about the week that passed. And the last thing is the Israeli community – who welcomed me with love and always made me feel at home.”
